On Saturday, the Bandera High School (BHS) and Bandera Middle School (BMS) speech and debate teams competed at the Boerne Champion Texas Forensic Association (TFA) tournament, showcasing impressive performances against tough competition. This event also marked the debut of the Middle School team.
First-time high school competitors Cullen Maloney, Michael Ellingson, and Ember Parker represented Bandera Middle School proudly.
In the Student Congress category, senior Micah McCreary was a semi-finalist out of 92 entries, while sophomore Amelie Smoor advanced to the finals.
In Domestic Extemporaneous Speaking, senior Braden Valle made it to the semi-finals among 52 entries. Freshman Luke Parks and sophomore Aiden Garcia also reached the semi-finals in Novice Extemporaneous Speaking, competing against 35 other participants.
In Novice Lincoln-Douglas Debate, Aiden Garcia earned 3rd place in his first-ever rounds, standing out among 24 debaters.
Sophomore Claudia Alameda and junior Sydney McDaniel competed in Varsity Prose against 40 entries, with Sydney securing 5th place in just her second career tournament.
The Bandera Bulldogs will continue their strong season next weekend at the Hays TFA tournament.
