San Antonio residents now have access to the city’s new Public Safety Dashboard: Police Response, a convenient online tool providing detailed information about police calls for service, arrests, and offense reports. The dashboard allows citizens to view data by police service area and zip code, providing insights into police activity without the need for formal open records requests.
The platform includes features such as:
- Searchable maps, graphs, and tables showing calls for service, arrests, and offenses.
- Details on how officers responded to calls, including arrests and charges.
- Analysis of trends based on time of day, holidays, and other factors.
The dashboard covers data from January 1, 2024, through September 30, 2024, with updates each month. Future updates will include year-to-year comparisons. The initiative aims to enhance transparency and collaboration between the San Antonio Police Department and the community.
San Antonio Police Chief William McManus emphasized the importance of the dashboard as a first step toward improving community engagement and addressing concerns. This is the first of three planned dashboards, with future releases focusing on the San Antonio Fire Department and the Good Neighbors Program. Citizens will have the opportunity to provide feedback on additional features and enhancements.
