Governor Greg Abbott today announced that US Foods, Inc. will expand its food distribution and warehousing facility in Buda, creating 165 new jobs and investing more than $120 million. US Foods, a leading foodservice distributor, will also receive a Texas Enterprise Fund (TEF) grant of $1,072,500 to support the expansion.
“This significant investment in Buda brings 165 new, good-paying jobs for hardworking Texans in Central Texas and showcases the strength of our state’s economy,” Governor Abbott said. “Companies invest and expand in Texas because of our unmatched business-friendly climate, reasonable regulations, and highly skilled workforce.”
US Foods has operated in Buda since 2011, and the expansion will enhance food distribution along the I-35 corridor, particularly to the Austin area’s growing food scene.
Senator Donna Campbell emphasized the community's growth, saying, “With 165 new jobs and an impressive capital investment, this project strengthens Texas's economy and provides families with new opportunities.”
Senator Judith Zaffirini echoed the sentiment, highlighting the project’s importance for Senate District 21 and the positive impact on the region.
US Foods Area President Taylor McIntyre expressed appreciation for the state’s support, stating, “Central Texas is a critical part of our distribution footprint, and we look forward to continuing to grow and enhance our partnership with foodservice operators across the region.”
Buda officials also praised the expansion. Mayor Lee Urbanovsky stated, “This project, enabled by the Texas Enterprise Fund, will help create more job opportunities and improve the quality of life in Buda.” Buda City Manager Micah Grau added, “This positive growth is critical to our community’s economic success.”
The expansion is a key milestone in Buda’s economic development and underscores the effectiveness of public-private collaboration in fostering regional growth.
