Faith Paige Goynes

On December 23, 2024, deputies with the Bexar County Sheriff's Office conducted a welfare check at the request of the Calhoun County Sheriff's Office, leading to the discovery of a deceased victim with a gunshot wound to the face. The victim was found in a closet at the residence.

Simultaneously, Calhoun County sheriff's deputies were investigating a vehicle fire in Port O'Connor, where a 2024 GMC pickup truck had been heavily damaged. A witness reported seeing a woman attempting to extinguish herself nearby. The woman, later identified as Faith Paige Goynes, was found paddling away in a kayak and was in possession of the victim's identification, with severe burns on her hand.

Goynes was taken back to the scene of the fire, where it was confirmed that the burned truck belonged to the victim. After being read her rights, Goynes confessed to shooting the victim, stealing his truck, and setting it on fire.

On January 16, 2025, Goynes was extradited from Calhoun County back to Bexar County on a murder warrant. The investigation is ongoing.
