A man and woman have been arrested in connection with a hit-and-run crash that left a pedestrian severely injured on December 20, 2024.
Deputies with the Bexar County Sheriff's Office (BCSO) responded to the 16300 block of Shepherd Rd. after reports of a motor vehicle striking a pedestrian. Witnesses stated an older model white sedan hit the victim, causing him to flip over the car, before fleeing the scene. The victim was transported to University Hospital with life-threatening injuries.
On February 4, 2025, BCSO Traffic Homicide Investigators identified the suspects and located the vehicle involved. A search warrant revealed blood evidence still present on the car.
Three days later, BCSO Sex Offender Registration Deputies learned that 33-year-old Carlos R. Garcia, Jr. had violated his registration requirements by failing to report a vehicle within the required timeframe. After his arrest, Garcia admitted to driving the Toyota Camry on the night of the crash and hitting the victim. He also stated that 37-year-old Amanda Garcia was in the vehicle at the time.
Amanda Garcia was later arrested and admitted to knowing about the crash and assisting in replacing vehicle parts.
The victim's family reports that he remains unable to speak or move due to the severity of his injuries.
