On February 15, 2025, a jury in the 379th District Court sentenced Guadalupe Contreras to 75 years in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice for the murder of his estranged wife, Elizabeth Contreras.
Elizabeth Contreras was reported missing on August 2, 2017, after she left her family and was not seen again. That night, Guadalupe Contreras left work, met with her, and committed the murder. Assistant Criminal District Attorneys Kristen Mulliner, Lauren Scott, and Daniel Gutierrez prosecuted the case with support from Investigator Kyle Scott and Crime Victim Advocate Alexis Smith of the Family Violence Division.
Bexar County District Attorney Joe Gonzales stated, "We hope that this verdict will bring closure and some sense of justice to the memory of Elizabeth Contreras. Our office will continue to seek justice for victims of crime. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family of Elizabeth Contreras."
