Rapper Taymor McIntyre, known as Tay-K, was sentenced to 80 years in prison by a Bexar County jury in the 187th District Court, with Judge Stephanie Boyd presiding. The sentence is for the 2017 shooting death of 23-year-old Mark Anthony Saldivar in a Chick-fil-A parking lot. This sentence will run concurrently with McIntyre's 55-year sentence from Tarrant County for a 2017 murder during a home invasion.
The 2017 incident occurred when McIntyre fatally shot Saldivar after the victim refused to hand over his backpack. At the time, McIntyre was on the run from authorities for a separate murder and robbery in Tarrant County.
Assistant Criminal District Attorneys Jason Garrahan and Meghan Galloway led the prosecution, with support from Victim Advocate Rosalinda Perez and Investigator Donald Walters.
Bexar County District Attorney Joe Gonzales commented on the sentencing, stating, "The sentencing delivered by the jury proves that accountability knows no social status; whether a person is a celebrity or an everyday individual, their actions have consequences. The results of this case reflect our office's commitment to upholding the law and ensuring that those who repeatedly violate it are held accountable, for the greater good of the community."
