Bandera City Council Proposes $280K in Certificates of Obligation for Water System Improvements

The City of Bandera has announced its intention to issue up to $280,000 in Combination Tax and Surplus Revenue Certificates of Obligation to fund improvements to the city’s water system.

According to the notice, the certificates would cover costs associated with planning, designing, constructing, acquiring, equipping, and improving the city's water system, as well as legal, fiscal, engineering fees, and issuance costs. The city plans to repay the debt using a combination of ad valorem tax revenues and, if available, surplus revenues from the municipal waterworks and sewer system.

Currently, the City of Bandera holds $8,253,000 in outstanding principal debt. The total combined principal and interest on existing obligations stands at $9,019,240. If approved, the estimated total principal and interest for the proposed certificates would add an additional $378,305. The maximum maturity date for the new certificates is March 15, 2046.

The City Council is scheduled to consider authorizing the issuance of the certificates at a Special Meeting on May 20, 2025, at 5:00 p.m. at Bandera City Hall, located at 511 Main St.
