A major accident occurred early Sunday morning, March 24, 2024, at around 1:37 a.m. in the 200 block of Holdsworth. According to initial reports, a single vehicle was involved in a rollover incident resulting in the loss of one passenger's life and injuries to the driver and three other passengers.
The vehicle, identified as a 2007 BMW, was reportedly traveling east on Holdsworth Drive when it veered off the road, overturned, and collided with a tree. Kerrville Police and Kerrville Fire EMS responded to the scene, providing immediate assistance.
Of the passengers involved, two 15-year-olds and a 14-year-old from Kerrville were transported to Peterson Regional Medical Center. Two were treated and released, while the third was transferred to University Hospital for further medical attention. The 19-year-old driver, hailing from Fredericksburg, had to be extricated from the vehicle and was airlifted to San Antonio Army Medical Center. Details about their conditions remain undisclosed.
Tragically, one 15-year-old passenger from Kerrville succumbed to their injuries at the scene. The identity of the deceased has not been released by Kerrville Police, pending family notification.
An investigation into the cause of the crash is currently underway by Kerrville Police. However, details regarding the circumstances leading to the accident are scarce as the investigation is in its preliminary stages.
UPDATE: The 15-year-old killed has been identified as Ayden Elyse Vargas of Kerrville. The driver was identified as 19-year-old Aden Alberto Neri of Fredericksburg.
“This is a tragic incident, it’s always heartbreaking to see a young life cut short. Our hearts go out to the family and friends of Ayden in their time of grief,” said Kerrville Police Department Chief Chris McCall.
