A tragic incident unfolded on Saturday, April 6, 2024, as emergency services responded to a distressing call in the 100 block of Pearl Street. Kerrville Police Department officers, accompanied by Kerrville Fire Department personnel, rushed to a residence following reports of a child struck by a vehicle in the driveway around 2:28 p.m.
Upon arrival, first responders immediately provided aid to the two-year-old child involved. The child was transported by ambulance to Peterson Regional Medical Center due to life-threatening injuries. Despite the efforts of the medical staff, the child succumbed to the injuries sustained.
According to preliminary reports, the driver of the vehicle was reversing out of the driveway when the accident occurred. Regrettably, the child, unseen by the driver, darted towards the vehicle and was struck.
The Kerrville Police Department has initiated an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident. Chief Chris McCall expressed condolences, stating, "The Kerrville Police Department extends their sympathies to the loved ones of this child as they deal with this unimaginable loss. Our thoughts and prayers go out to them."
