Traffic Stop Leads to Drug Arrest in Gillespie County

On Tuesday, June 11, 2024, at around 10:23 p.m., a deputy initiated a traffic stop near the intersection of Ranch Road 1376 and Luckenbach Town Loop for a traffic violation. During the stop, the deputy spoke with the female driver and developed reasonable suspicion, prompting him to request consent to search the vehicle, which the driver denied.

As the deputy, who is also a K9 handler, asked the driver to exit the vehicle to conduct a free-air sniff with K9 Furex, he detected an odor of marijuana from inside the vehicle. When questioned, the driver admitted there was marijuana in the car. K9 Furex subsequently alerted to the presence of narcotics.

A probable cause search of the vehicle revealed approximately 28.46 grams of marijuana in a purse, along with several baggies containing methamphetamine, a digital scale, and packing material. The methamphetamine weighed approximately 132.22 grams (4.66 ounces).

The 59-year-old driver from Manchaca, TX, was arrested and charged with Manufacture or Delivery of a Controlled Substance in Penalty Group 1 >= 4 grams < 200 grams. She was transported to the Gillespie County Jail.
