San Antonio City Council Approves Lease for New Spay/Neuter Clinic in Denver Heights

On June 20, 2024, the San Antonio City Council made a significant decision to enhance animal care services in the Eastside community. They approved a five-year lease agreement for clinic space located at 1604 S. New Braunfels Avenue in the Denver Heights neighborhood. This space will be utilized by San Antonio Animal Care Services (SAACS) to establish a new spay/neuter clinic aimed at serving the Eastside and surrounding areas.

District 2 Councilmember McKee-Rodriguez expressed strong support for the initiative, highlighting the clinic's role in addressing animal welfare concerns in the community. McKee-Rodriguez emphasized the clinic's strategic location, intended to provide more accessible services to neighborhoods grappling with issues related to stray and roaming animals.

“We want to thank the Animal Care Services department for their steadfast work and dedication to this project,” stated Councilmember McKee-Rodriguez. “We are extremely hopeful the new spay/neuter clinic will help make a difference in the health and happiness of our animals and those who care for them.”

A second five-year Lease Agreement for a spay/neuter clinic space was also approved by City Council today for the Las Palmas area. To learn more about SAACS’ spay/neuter services, visit the City’s website.
