On Thursday evening, July 11, 2024, a subject wanted for murder fled from his vehicle near the weigh station on IH35 south of Devine. Law enforcement and the San Antonio Police Department's helicopter initiated a search for the subject. Residents in the area were instructed to shelter-in-place and secure their homes and vehicles. Authorities advised calling 911 if anyone suspicious was seen in the area, as the subject was considered armed and dangerous.
By Friday morning, Medina County officials confirmed that Naudy D. Hernandez-Perez, a 25-year-old male from Venezuela, had been taken into custody without incident. The arrest followed an extensive search by law enforcement officers.
Medina County Deputies attempted to initiate a traffic stop on Hernandez-Perez's vehicle after receiving information that he was wanted for the murder of a 25-year-old male in Dallas. He was believed to be attempting to flee the country into Mexico. During the attempted traffic stop, Hernandez-Perez drove off the highway into the median along IH 35 near Devine, exited the vehicle, and fled on foot into a brushy area near mile marker 119. Deputies pursued him, setting up a perimeter with assistance from various agencies. Hernandez-Perez was eventually apprehended and transported to the Medina County Jail. He faces charges for the active murder warrant and additional new criminal charges.
Hernandez-Perez was wanted by Dallas Police for the murder of 25-year-old Maikal Yoel Izaipe, who was found dead outside a home on Silver Springs Circle in West Oak Cliff. The search for Hernandez-Perez began following the discovery of Izaipe's body.
