On July 20, 2023, a shooting occurred at the 1800 block of Lockhill Selma. While officers did not locate any victims at the scene, two male victims were reported missing the following day. An abandoned vehicle was later discovered with evidence indicating the two missing individuals had been in the car. Subsequent investigation led to the discovery of the victims' bodies in a wooded area on the south side of San Antonio.
San Antonio Police Department (SAPD) Homicide, with the assistance of the FBI, identified and arrested two suspects, Austyn Hartnett, 22, and Micheal Trevino, 22. Two additional suspects, already in custody on unrelated federal charges, were also linked to the case. All four suspects face charges of Capital Murder and Tampering with Evidence.
The SAPD Homicide, TAG, Street Crimes Unit, and Covert Unit were commended for their efforts in solving the case.
