Schertz Police and U.S. Marshals Apprehend Suspect in June Shooting

On July 25, 2024, at approximately 12:15 p.m., the Schertz Police Department, in collaboration with the U.S. Marshals Lone Star Fugitive Task Force, apprehended 21-year-old Rodrigo I. Lopez from San Antonio. Lopez is suspected of involvement in a shooting incident that occurred in the 6000 block of Covers Cove on June 30, 2024.

A warrant for Deadly Conduct had been issued for Lopez, who was also the subject of nine additional active warrants issued by various agencies.

Police Chief Jim Lowery commented on the arrest, stating, “Lopez was clearly a threat to our communities and the apprehension of this violent offender is due, in part, to the U.S. Marshals Lone Star Fugitive Task Force. Working collaboratively with our local, state, and federal partners is paramount in providing service and protecting our communities.”
