On August 21, 2024, at approximately 12:35 p.m., the Schertz Police Department responded to a vehicle collision involving a motorcyclist at the intersection of Schertz Parkway and Elbel Road. Preliminary investigations indicate that the motorcyclist was attempting to evade Converse Police when the accident occurred.
The motorcyclist was last observed traveling northbound on Schertz Parkway from FM 78 at a high rate of speed. By the time a Converse Police unit arrived at the intersection with Elbel Road, the motorcyclist had already been involved in the collision.
The operator of the motorcycle was transported to San Antonio Military Medical Center (SAMC) but later succumbed to his injuries. The motorcyclist's identity is pending next of kin notification.
The intersection of Schertz Parkway remains temporarily closed as the traffic accident is investigated. The Guadalupe County Precinct 3 Constables Office is assisting with the investigation. The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) Accident Reconstruction Team has been called in to aid with the traffic fatality investigation.
