At approximately 9:30 PM on August 25, 2024, the Cibolo Police Department responded to a report of a shooting in the 300 block of Shady Meadows Lane, Cibolo, Texas. Upon arrival, officers found 18-year-old Deshawn Shipp of Cibolo with a gunshot wound to the chest lying in the street. Officers administered lifesaving measures, but when Schertz EMS arrived, Shipp was pronounced deceased.
Detectives from the Cibolo Police Department Criminal Investigations Division and the Texas Rangers responded to the scene. The initial investigation revealed that a gathering was taking place at a home on Shady Meadows Lane when a 16-year-old female claimed she had been physically assaulted by Shipp. A male at the gathering, identified as 38-year-old Joshua Shineflew of Cibolo, then got into a physical altercation with Shipp. During the altercation, Shipp was shot. Shineflew was detained at the scene and subsequently arrested. He was transported to the Guadalupe County Jail and charged with murder.
