On September 4, 2024, at approximately 6:55 a.m., the New Braunfels Police Department responded to a report of a collision between a child on a bicycle and a vehicle. The incident occurred in the 2000 block of FM 1101 at Kowald Lane, in front of Freiheit Elementary School.
Upon arrival, officers discovered that a black sedan traveling on FM 1101 had stopped in the crosswalk. A 10-year-old female student on a bicycle then collided with the rear driver’s side door of the vehicle. The child sustained minor abrasions and was transported by the City of New Braunfels Fire Department to Resolute Hospital as a precautionary measure.
The 65-year-old male driver of the sedan from Seguin was not injured. No charges have been filed at this time, and the incident is under investigation. The New Braunfels Police Department advises drivers to reduce speed and remain vigilant for students crossing roadways near local schools.
