Shavano Park Driver Arrested for Felony Evading Arrest; Stolen Vehicle and Drugs Found

On Friday, September 13th, at approximately 5:30 p.m., a Shavano Park police officer observed a vehicle with a likely fraudulent temporary registration tag in the 16800 block of NW Military Highway. When the officer checked the tag number, it returned no information, indicating it was fictitious.

The officer attempted a traffic stop, but the vehicle fled onto North Loop 1604. After catching up, the officer found the driver unable to navigate through slower traffic and stopped near North Loop 1604 and Blanco Road. The driver was arrested for felony Evading Arrest.

During a vehicle inventory, officers discovered drug paraphernalia and suspected marijuana. Additionally, no Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) were found, suggesting the vehicle might be stolen.

The driver was booked at the Bexar County Detention Center on a third-degree felony charge of Evading Arrest with a Motor Vehicle. The vehicle was impounded, and the case was referred to criminal investigations. Subsequent follow-up revealed hidden VINs, and the vehicle was identified as stolen, reported to the San Antonio Police Department on July 28, 2024. The investigation is ongoing.
