New Braunfels Man Subdued After Pointing Shotgun at Officers, Investigation Underway

On September 22, 2024, at approximately 8 PM, officers from the City of New Braunfels Police Department responded to a disturbance in the 1200 block of Roaring Falls. Upon arrival, officers encountered a 63-year-old male who refused to exit the residence.

While attempting to communicate with the suspect, officers observed him pointing a shotgun at them through a window. In response, one officer fired his service weapon at the suspect. Shortly afterward, the man exited the home holding a knife. Officers subdued him and took him into custody without further incident.

The suspect was transported to Christus Santa Rosa Hospital – New Braunfels with superficial, non-life-threatening injuries. It is unclear whether the injuries were self-inflicted or the result of the gunshot. He remains in stable condition at the hospital, with formal charges pending.

The incident is being investigated as an officer-involved shooting. The officer, a Patrol Sergeant with 17 years of service, has been placed on administrative leave, per standard procedure, while the Texas Rangers conduct an investigation.
