Suspect Killed by Kerrville Officer After High-Speed Chase Ends Near Fredericksburg

On Tuesday, October 15, 2024, at approximately 1:19 a.m., a Kerrville Police Department officer attempted to stop a vehicle for multiple traffic violations on Sidney Baker Street. The driver fled, initiating a pursuit that led officers north on State Highway 16 into Gillespie County.

Officers from the Fredericksburg Police Department and deputies from the Gillespie County Sheriff’s Office assisted in the chase. Tire deflation devices were deployed successfully as the vehicle approached Fredericksburg. The suspect lost control, crashing in the 1100 block of State Highway 16. After exiting the vehicle, the suspect charged at the Kerrville Police officer, who discharged their service weapon, fatally wounding the suspect.

The Justice of the Peace pronounced the suspect deceased at the scene, and their identity remains unconfirmed. The Kerrville officer has been placed on paid administrative leave, following department policy. The Texas Rangers are investigating the incident.
