On October 24, 2024, at approximately 9:15 AM, the New Braunfels Police Department and the New Braunfels Fire Department responded to a report of a collision between an 18-wheeler and a pedestrian in the 6000 block of I-35 South.
Upon arrival, first responders found an adult male who had suffered fatal injuries in the collision. The victim was identified as 31-year-old Austin Michael Arp from Austin, Texas. Next of kin has been notified. The driver of the 18-wheeler was uninjured in the incident.
While the investigation is ongoing, no charges are expected to be filed against the driver. Southbound traffic on I-35 was closed in the area for approximately three hours to allow for a full accident reconstruction investigation by the New Braunfels Police Department Traffic Unit.
