In the early hours of Wednesday, October 30, 2024, Kyle police arrested two men on drug and firearm charges after tracking stolen AirPods to a location where they found the suspects and additional contraband.
At approximately 1:29 a.m., officers responded to a burglary report in the 3200 block of Kyle Crossing. Among the items reported stolen was a duffle bag containing AirPods, which were traced to the 300 block of Love Drive. Officers arrived at the location and found two men outside a vehicle who claimed they had found the abandoned duffle bag.
A subsequent search of the vehicle revealed a stolen handgun, 19.2 grams of methamphetamine, and multiple empty baggies. The suspects, Anthony Lowden, 39, of Kyle, and Troy Nicolls, 33, of Buda, were arrested. Lowden faces charges of Manufacturing and Delivery of a Controlled Substance, while Nicolls was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance, Theft of a Firearm, and Unlawful Carry of a Weapon.
