In Medina County’s fire department, personnel often take on diverse responsibilities, a role Lieutenant Joe Wells has embraced fully. As a firefighter assigned to B-Shift operations at Station 11 in La Coste, Lt. Wells also oversees fleet maintenance for more than 25 pieces of apparatus, ensuring equipment remains response-ready.
Lt. Wells brings a unique blend of experience to his position. A retired mechanic from the United States Army Reserves, with 20 years of service, he has expanded his skills with certifications in Emergency Vehicle Technician (EVT) maintenance. His qualifications now include EVT certifications in Maintenance and Inspections, Design and Performance, Fire Pumps and Accessories, and Foam Systems. This expertise enables the department to handle more repairs in-house, which saves the district money that can be directed toward enhancing response capabilities.
