On Thursday, November 7, 2024, around 1:27 a.m., a Bandera County deputy observed a suspicious individual walking in the Wharton's Dock area and attempted a stop. The man fled on foot, prompting the deputy to pursue him. During the chase, the deputy deployed a Taser, successfully apprehending the suspect. While being restrained, the man, identified as 33-year-old Jonathan Tyler Phillips of Bigfoot, Texas, struck his head on the ground. EMS was requested, but the deputy provided treatment at the scene.
Upon searching Phillips, the deputy discovered methamphetamine in his possession. Phillips was subsequently transported to the Bandera County Jail and booked at 2:34 a.m. Further investigation revealed that Phillips had outstanding warrants from Atascosa County.
