Cory Edmondson, MBA, FACHE, President and CEO of Peterson Health, has been named the next President and CEO of United Regional Health Care System (URHCS) in Wichita Falls, Texas. Edmondson, who has led Peterson Health since May 2019, will assume his new role in February 2025.
URHCS, an independent, not-for-profit health system, operates a 300-bed, Level II Trauma medical center and serves a nine-county area in north central Texas, with a service population exceeding 200,000.
“Congratulations to Cory. His visionary and inspirational leadership has led to tremendous growth and positivity since his arrival," said Tom Houdeshell, Chairman of Peterson Health’s Board of Directors.
During his tenure, Edmondson oversaw the development of new service lines, property acquisitions for future growth, and the opening of a state-of-the-art surgery center. Under his leadership, Peterson Health received national recognition, including four consecutive years on Modern Healthcare’s “Best Places to Work in Healthcare” list.
Edmondson reflected on the decision, saying, “This was one of the hardest decisions of my life, and I wasn’t looking to make a change... I strongly believe God has a plan for all of us, and after a lot of prayer and conversation with my family, I know this is the right decision for us.”
Houdeshell announced that Peterson Health will conduct a national search for Edmondson's successor. “Peterson Health is a highly respected and well-known entity in healthcare. I have no doubt we will see many qualified applicants,” he said.
Edmondson’s final day at Peterson Health will be February 7, 2025.
