On Wednesday, January 8th, a Dilley Police officer initiated a traffic stop on a white, lifted Ford pickup traveling northbound on Interstate 35. The driver failed to pull over, leading to a pursuit that continued northbound on I-35.
With the help of several agencies, the vehicle was successfully brought to a stop at mile marker 94. The driver, along with several occupants, fled the vehicle on foot. After a brief foot chase, all individuals were apprehended.
The driver, identified as Benigo Juarez, was taken into custody, while several undocumented immigrants were transferred to the custody of U.S. Border Patrol.
Chief Hernandez expressed his appreciation, stating, "I applaud the efforts of our Dilley PD Officers for always staying vigilant and their commitment to keeping our community safe."
The incident is under investigation.
