On Saturday, January 18, the Bandera High School UIL Speech, Debate, and Academics teams competed at Medina Valley High School against 20 schools as they prepared for the District contest in March.
The team earned several individual awards:
- Isabella Chapa: 1st Poetry, 1st Informative Speaking
- Alyssa Ruch: 4th Informative Speaking, Quarterfinalist in LD Debate
- Aiden Garcia: 6th Persuasive Speaking
- Claudia Alameda: 2nd Prose
- Edyn Knudtson: 1st Ready Writing
- Mary Freeman: 3rd Ready Writing
- Carter Rissmiller: 5th Current Events
- Ozzie Knowles: 1st News Writing, 6th Editorial Writing
- Jocelyn Klein: 5th Editorial Writing
- Ruffin Scartocci: 4th Editorial Writing
The team is coached by Stephanie Jones, Ginger Frye, Aidan Keane, and Brady Keane.
Their next competition will be held in Wimberley on January 25.
