On January 18, 2025, deputies responded to a 911 call from a 12-year-old child who reported being abandoned at home with a 9-year-old sibling for over 10 hours. The mother, 36-year-old Misty Dawn Lewis, allegedly told the children she was going to pick up a package but failed to return, leaving the children unsupervised at their residence.
Upon investigation, deputies were able to track Lewis' location to Flipper Drive in San Antonio, where she was found intoxicated and smelling of alcohol. Lewis admitted she had left her children at home alone. Deputies also discovered a small amount of cocaine on Lewis at the time of her arrest.
Lewis was charged with two counts of Abandoning or Endangering a Child and Possession of a Controlled Substance Less Than 4 grams. She was transported to the Bexar County Jail, where she was booked on the charges.
