Four teenagers were arrested over the weekend in connection with multiple burglaries of motor vehicles in the Kyle and Austin area.
At approximately 1:50 a.m. on Monday, January 27, 2025, the Kyle Police Department was alerted by the Austin Police Department that a stolen vehicle was being tracked to a gas station in Kyle. Officers quickly arrived at the location, where the driver attempted to flee but soon lost control and came to a stop.
Upon further investigation, officers identified the driver as a 14-year-old male, accompanied by three other teens: two 15-year-old females and 17-year-old Edwin Serna of Kyle. All four teens were safely detained.
The juvenile driver faces charges of burglary of a motor vehicle, evading arrest in a vehicle, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, and engaging in organized criminal activity. Serna has also been charged with engaging in organized criminal activity and has pending warrants for additional vehicle burglaries.
“We take these incidents very seriously, especially when underaged and inexperienced drivers are involved. Their actions not only put other people’s property at risk but also endanger the safety of everyone on the road,” said Kyle Police Chief Jeff Barnett. “We encourage our residents to remain vigilant by removing valuables from their vehicles and locking their doors to help prevent these types of crimes in our community.”
