Residents in Castroville reported a strong gas odor Wednesday afternoon after the city added odorant to the gas system, leading to the discovery of multiple small leaks.
According to a message from the City of Castroville, the leaks were found at various locations, including gas meters and inside homes. Officials advised residents still noticing a strong smell outside near their meter to contact Public Works at (830) 931-4090. Those experiencing the odor inside their homes were urged to contact a plumber for an inspection.
The city also emphasized that CPS Energy is not responsible for maintaining or repairing Castroville’s gas system. Residents were instructed not to call CPS Energy for service issues and to direct all concerns to Public Works.
