The Schertz Police Department is searching for a suspect following a shooting that occurred in the 9000 block of Aranda Lane on March 11, 2025.
At approximately 2:26 p.m., officers responded to reports of a shooting and found a male victim suffering from a serious gunshot wound to the upper right thigh. Officers applied a tourniquet and provided first aid until Schertz EMS transported the victim to Brooke Army Medical Center for treatment.
Investigators determined that an altercation involving two residents and a contract road repair crew escalated, resulting in the shooting.
The suspect has been identified as 41-year-old Stephen Patterson, described as a white male with brown hair. Patterson is believed to be driving a green 2006 GMC Z71 with Texas license plates CHF5706 or VVY3659.
As a precaution, Rose Garden Elementary, Ray Corbett Junior High, and Founders Classical Academy were placed in secure status for about 25 minutes before being cleared.
The investigation is ongoing, and authorities urge anyone who sees Patterson or knows his whereabouts to contact the Schertz Police Department at 210-619-1200 or 911. Patterson is considered armed and dangerous, and the public is advised not to approach him.
