A 12-year-old boy from San Antonio is in critical condition following a drowning incident at Cypress Bend Park on Friday, March 14, 2025.
At approximately 3:40 p.m., the New Braunfels Fire Department and New Braunfels Police Department responded to the 500 block of Peace Avenue after receiving reports of a possible drowning.
City of New Braunfels Park Rangers were first to arrive and found the boy had been in the river with his family before going under the water for an unknown period. Park Rangers immediately began lifesaving measures until first responders arrived and continued efforts.
The victim was transported by EMS to Resolute Hospital, where he was stabilized before being airlifted to a San Antonio-area hospital in critical condition.
Preliminary investigation indicates no foul play, and alcohol was not a factor.
