Fire Destroys 11 Structures in Bandera, Displacing Several Families

On Friday, March 14, Bandera Fire and Rescue responded to a fire that began near Roundup Trail and Hunters Road, quickly spreading to Pony Road and Saddle Drive.

According to Fire Marshal Jason Rutherford, 11 structures were destroyed, displacing multiple families. No injuries were reported. Air support was utilized to contain the fire before it spread further.

Volunteer firefighters worked throughout Friday and into Saturday to extinguish the blaze. Bandera Fire and Rescue reminded residents that Red Flag conditions remain in effect, prohibiting any burning and urging vigilance in preventing fires.

Bandera Fire Chief Brand Cummings Jr. expressed gratitude to the agencies that assisted in the response, including Pipe Creek Fire, Medina Fire, Lake Shore Fire, Castle Lake Fire, Tarpley Fire, Vanderpool Fire, Center Point Fire, and state aid services. He also thanked Bandera County EMS, Bandera County EOC, Bandera County Fire Marshal, and Bandera County Dispatchers for their support. The Salvation Army provided food and snacks for emergency personnel working overnight.

The fire burned a total of 17 acres.
