Bandera Electric Cooperative's Election Underway for Board of Directors

The Bandera Electric Cooperative (BEC) election for the Board of Directors is now open and will run until August 11, at 11 a.m. Members are encouraged to participate and cast their votes for candidates in their respective districts. Each member is entitled to vote for one candidate from each district in the upcoming election.

The candidates running for the Board of Directors positions, listed in the order they appear on the ballot, are as follows:

  • District 1: Robert Aguirre (incumbent)
  • District 2: Frances “Fran” Laue (incumbent), Brittany Hicks
  • District 3: Jeffery “Jeff” Slocum (incumbent)

District 1 represents Pipe Creek and portions of the Medina Lake area, District 2 represents portions of the Bandera area, and District 3 represents portions of the Bandera area and south Tarpley.

To cast their votes, members can choose one of the following methods:

  1. Online Voting: Members can log into the myBEC app or their myBEC account and click on the "Vote Now" button. The voting platform can be accessed at https://www.directvote.net/BEC/app/ballot_page.aspx?Ballot=1.

  2. Mail-in Ballots: Paper ballots will be delivered to members via mail this week.

In an effort to help members make informed decisions, candidate information and bios are available both on the online ballot and in the mail-in ballot.

For technical assistance regarding the voting process, members can contact the support team at 952-974-2339 or email support@directvote.net. The technical support is available Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Results of the election will be officially announced during the annual meeting on Saturday, August 12, at Ridin' the River Cowboy Fellowship, located at 5767 HWY 173 N, Bandera. The registration for the meeting will commence at 8:30 a.m., and the meeting will start promptly at 10 a.m.

Members who attend the annual meeting in person will be eligible to win a prize. For those unable to attend physically, the meeting will be livestreamed on both Facebook and YouTube, allowing remote participation and engagement.

The BEC Board of Directors plays a crucial role in shaping the cooperative's policies and decisions. Therefore, it is vital for all eligible members to exercise their voting rights and have their voices heard in this important election.
