Back-to-School Tax-Free Shopping Aug 11-13

As summer draws to a close, parents are preparing their children for the school year ahead. That always includes shopping trips for clothes, shoes, school supplies and other necessities.

The Texas Comptroller’s Office recently announced the state’s Sales Tax Holiday will begin Friday, Aug. 11 and run through Sunday, Aug. 13 at midnight. Qualifying items, such as backpacks, electronics, clothing and other classroom supplies, can be purchased sales tax-free at any Texas store or from any online or catalog retailer doing business in the state.

Visit the Texas Comptroller website for the full list of qualifying items.

In preparation for the tax-free weekend, shoppers should plan their purchases carefully. Many retailers offer special promotions and discounts during this time. With a comprehensive shopping list in hand, parents can efficiently navigate the aisles, ensuring they cover all the bases.

The combination of tax savings and strategic shopping can help parents maximize their purchasing power and equip their children for a successful return to the classroom.
