On July 30, 2023, a tragic incident unfolded as a California man was shot and killed in Lakehills. One suspect has been taken into custody, while authorities continue to search for a second suspect. According to Bandera County Chief Deputy Matt King, the shooting appears to be related to a drug deal gone wrong.
The victim, whose identity has not been disclosed, was fatally shot during an altercation with two suspects from San Antonio. Both the victim and his girlfriend were described by authorities as "wanderers," leading a nomadic lifestyle without fixed addresses, often camping across the country.
Upon arrival at the scene, emergency responders found the victim with gunshot wounds. Despite immediate efforts to save his life, he succumbed to his injuries before reaching the hospital.
Bandera County Chief Deputy Matt King expressed that the suspects have no known ties to Bandera County and their presence in the area remains puzzling. "None of these people have anything to do with Bandera County," he stated.
