Methodist Hospital Specialty and Transplant Welcomes Janelle Lopez as Chief Operating Officer

Methodist Hospital Specialty and Transplant has selected Janelle Lopez to serve as the hospital's new Chief Operating Officer (COO), effective from August 21, 2023. In this crucial role, Lopez will take on direct responsibilities for overseeing facility enhancements, including construction, renovation, and procurement of new equipment.

Janelle Lopez boasts a robust career spanning over 15 years in the healthcare sector, amassing a wealth of expertise and knowledge. She has held various leadership positions within the Methodist Healthcare system, a testament to her dedication and commitment to advancing healthcare services.

Lopez's journey within the healthcare field began during her tenure in the United States Air Force as a medical technician, a role where she showcased her early passion for providing exceptional medical care. She later assumed significant leadership roles within the Methodist Healthcare system, serving as Chief Operating Officer at Methodist Hospital Texsan, Associate Chief Operating Officer at Methodist Hospital and Methodist Children’s Hospital, and Manager and Director of Ancillary Services at Methodist Hospital Specialty and Transplant.

Lopez's tenure at Methodist Hospital Texsan yielded remarkable achievements, including securing funding for major capital projects. Her efforts contributed to the establishment of a fifth operating room, the integration of surgical robots, and a comprehensive modernization of cardiac lab equipment. Moreover, Lopez excelled in team development and management, fostering high-performing teams across multiple departments under her purview, encompassing the cardiac cath lab, perioperative services, respiratory therapy, facilities management, imaging, pharmacy, security, lab, food services, and environmental services.

Lopez's educational background is equally impressive, underscoring her dedication to continuous growth and advancement. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Texas Health Science Center and subsequently completed an MBA in Healthcare Administration from Our Lady of the Lake University. Her commitment to excellence was further evident in her successful completion of the HCA Executive Development Program in 2021.
