Multiple Fires Erupt in Bandera County, Cat Rescued with Burned Paws

On Sunday, September 10th, at approximately 4 p.m., firefighters from Bandera County swiftly responded to a fire outbreak within the Enchanted Springs Subdivision, located just off Bottle Springs Road in Bandera. The flames quickly spread to Broken Spur Drive, posing a threat to multiple structures.

Around 4:40 p.m., a separate fire ignited due to a lightning strike, reported at the intersection of Wharton’s Dock Road and Old Castroville Road. Just ten minutes later, another fire sparked in a pasture following a lightning strike, this time on Middle Verde Road off FM 1077. By 5 p.m., emergency services were alerted to a tree ablaze at Saddleback Ridge, also situated off FM 1077.

Efforts to combat the fires continued until 5:50 p.m. At that time, all fires were successfully contained, with some units remaining at Broken Spur Drive. Regrettably, it was confirmed that at least one structure suffered extensive damage and was declared a total loss. Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the cause of the initial fire.

Amidst these incidents, the only injury reported was a cat with burnt paws. The injured feline was promptly transported to a veterinary facility and is expected to make a full recovery. Meanwhile, the cause of a separate structure fire on Big Rock Drive remains unknown, though authorities have asserted that they do not suspect any criminal activity at this time.
