Hondo Police Department Recovers Stolen ATV and Halts High-Speed Chase

In a series of events that unfolded during the late hours of September 20 and into the early morning hours of September 21, 2023, the Hondo Police Department had a busy night, successfully recovering a stolen ATV and putting an end to a high-speed chase.

Detectives from the Hondo Police Department managed to track down and recover a stolen ATV in San Antonio. The ATV, identified as a 2024 Kawasaki Pro Ext Platinum Ranch valued at $23,399.00, had been reported stolen from Lone Star Kawasaki in Hondo on September 17, 2023. The investigation into this matter is still ongoing.

Furthermore, during the early morning hours of September 21, Hondo patrol officers deployed spike strips just west of Hondo on US Highway 90. This strategic move was aimed at stopping a vehicle that had been evading law enforcement at speeds exceeding 90 mph. The pursuit had originated in Uvalde County and was handed over to the Medina County Sheriff's Office.

The deployment of the spike strips proved successful, leading to the apprehension of the driver by the Medina County Sheriff's Office. All officers and deputies involved in the operation were praised for their swift and effective response.

In a statement, Chief Soza commended the dedication of the officers and deputies, saying, "These men and women are truly committed to protecting and serving the citizens of God’s County."
