Bandera Middle School Student Brought Antique Gun to School

A 14-year-old student at Bandera Middle School has been expelled for bringing an antique gun to school.

The black powder handgun was found inside the student's backpack.  The eigh-grade boy was taken into custody on January 25 by the Bandera Marshal's office.

He was charged with unlawful carrying of a weapon and handled through the Bandera County Court.

The good news is that the gun had been disabled from being able to fire so no one at the school was in danger.  Still, school officials say that it was serious and warranted the expulsion.

Since then, the student has been going through a program through the probation department.  According to his mother, he is sorry and understands the seriousness of his offense.
