Spirit Airlines is expanding its services from San Antonio International Airport (SAT) with the addition of a new nonstop route to Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR), serving the New York City area. The ultra-low-cost carrier's move marks its sixth destination from SAT, offering more travel options for passengers.
The new daily nonstop service to Newark will commence on April 5, 2024, with tickets already available for purchase. This expansion follows Spirit's successful entry into the San Antonio market in 2022, which saw the introduction of flights to Las Vegas and Orlando in November 2022. The airline further increased its presence this year with the launch of nonstop routes to Baltimore and Fort Lauderdale in March and Los Angeles in May.
Commenting on the expansion, Jesus Saenz, Director of Airports at San Antonio Airport System, said, "Spirit keeps succeeding here in San Antonio. The daily flights from SAT to EWR will depart at 3:02 p.m. and arrive in Newark at 7:52 p.m. local time. Flights from EWR to SAT will depart at 11:07 a.m. and arrive in San Antonio at 2:17 p.m. local time.

This new addition to SAT's flight offerings complements the existing nonstop service to Newark provided by United Airlines, providing travelers with increased options for their journeys to the New York City area.
