San Antonio International Airport (SAT) is expanding its nonstop destinations with the addition of Burbank, California as its 45th destination. Southwest Airlines is set to introduce a new daily and year-round service to Hollywood Burbank Airport (BUR) starting on June 4, 2024.
“This is fantastic news for San Antonio,” stated Jesus Saenz, Director of Airports for the San Antonio Airport System (SAAS). “We have more options than ever before to take trips to fun and attractive locations – such as the Los Angeles region. Burbank is the closest LA-area airport to most of the region’s popular tourist destinations like Universal Studios Hollywood.”
Southwest's new nonstop service to Burbank complements its existing service to Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), which is also served by American Airlines, Delta Air Lines, and Spirit Airlines.
In addition to the new Burbank service, Southwest Airlines is planning to enhance its offerings. They will increase service to Baltimore, Orlando, and Phoenix, providing travelers with more options. Daily service to Cancun and weekend service to Albuquerque will also make a return next summer.
