Boerne Police Conclude Preliminary Investigation into Fatal Truck Incident

The Boerne Police Department has completed its initial investigation into a tragic incident involving a truck driver that occurred on Friday, November 3, 2023.

The sequence of events began when the Boerne Police 911 Dispatch Center received a 911 call at 3:18 p.m., reporting a single vehicle crash in the 1300 block of River Road. First responders swiftly arrived at the scene and discovered 69-year-old Paul Hamm unresponsive in his truck.

Local police officers immediately initiated life-saving measures before emergency medical technicians from Kendall County EMS and firefighters from the Boerne Fire Department arrived to provide additional assistance. Despite the valiant efforts of first responders at the scene and later at Boerne - Methodist Hospital, Paul Hamm tragically did not survive.

Justice of the Peace Debby Hudson officially pronounced Mr. Hamm as deceased.

Following a thorough investigation, authorities have reason to believe that Paul Hamm experienced a medical episode while driving, which led to his decision to make an emergency stop on the side of the road near the Kendall County Fairgrounds sign. There is currently no evidence to suggest that the accident itself played a role in Mr. Hamm's tragic passing.
