In a recent announcement, the Texas Comptroller revealed that the City of Kerrville has been honored with both the Traditional Finance Transparency Star and the Debt Obligation Transparency Star. The Comptroller's office, specifically the Data Analysis and Transparency Division, conducted its annual review, confirming that the city's financial transparency information continues to meet the criteria for this esteemed recognition.
The State of Texas Transparency Stars program, initiated by the Comptroller's office in March 2016, acknowledges local governments that exceed expectations in their transparency initiatives. Criteria for recognition include opening their financial books not only in traditional finances but also in areas such as contracts, procurement, economic development, public pensions, and debt obligations. Recognized entities are also required to provide clear and meaningful financial information through various means, including posting financial documents, summaries, visualizations, downloadable data, and other relevant information.
This latest recognition adds to the City of Kerrville's recent achievements. Notably, the finance department secured the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for the 38th consecutive year just last week.
