A major gas leak occurred today as a result of a construction incident involving a fiber optic line boring operation in Hondo. The incident took place between 17th and 18th streets and between Ave O and Ave N.
The Hondo Public Works department has confirmed that the gas leak is significant and poses a potential hazard to the surrounding area. The affected area has been cordoned off, and residents are urged to avoid the vicinity until the situation is under control.
Notably, the damaged gas line is a double-fed line, complicating the repair process. Emergency response crews from New Braunfels have been dispatched to assist in the efforts to contain and repair the leak.
