West Kerr County is grappling with an ongoing issue involving the unauthorized blocking of the low-water crossing at 100 Dowling Road West, causing a ripple effect that impacts local taxpayers in terms of labor and equipment. Officials from Kerr County emphasize that the allocated funds being spent on resolving this issue could be more effectively utilized for the benefit of the broader community.
The problem came into the spotlight in April of this year when Kerr County Crime Stoppers drew attention to the matter. Residents in the western part of Kerr County, specifically in Precinct 4, were alerted to the issue through posted signs at the low-water crossing situated near TX27 northwest of Ingram.
Kerr County Commissioner for Precinct 4, Don Harris, expressed concern over the ongoing situation, stating, “Every time someone decides to dam up the water there by blocking the culvert, not only are they committing a crime, but they are costing the county time and resources that are in short supply and needed in other places. They are, essentially, cheating their neighbors for their own selfish reasons.”
Officials urge anyone with information regarding this illegal damming activity to come forward. Kerr County Crime Stoppers can be reached through their website, www.kerrtips.com, or by calling (830) 896-8477.
