On December 8, 2023, at approximately 2:30 pm, Montgomery County Constable Ryan Gable's K-9 Deputy observed a black Toyota SUV committing a traffic violation on Briar Rock Lane and Interstate 45 in Spring, Texas. In response, the K-9 Deputy activated emergency lights and siren, prompting the vehicle to come to a stop. The driver and passenger were detained, and the SUV was subsequently searched.
Following the search, the driver was identified as 32-year-old Justin T. Covington of Montgomery. Covington was arrested on charges of Felony Possession of a Controlled Substance and was found to have an outstanding Felony Larceny Warrant from Bandera County. The vehicle's passenger was released at the scene.
Justin T. Covington was transported to the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office South County jail. He was later released to the custody of the Bandera County Sheriff's Office without incident.
