Bandera High School in Bandera, Texas, was placed under a "Secure and Hold/Lock out" protocol earlier today, February 7th, following advice from the Bandera County Sheriff's Department.
The protocol was in effect from 2:46 to 3:04 pm local time. This precautionary measure was taken as the Sheriff's Department conducted a search for a male subject in the vicinity of the high school.
Superintendent Gary Bitzkie confirmed that there was no direct threat to Bandera High School or its students and staff. The decision was made out of an abundance of caution due to the proximity of the event. At 3:04 pm, the Bandera County Sheriff's Department advised the school to lift the Secure and Hold protocol as they had the situation under control.
Superintendent Bitzkie expressed gratitude to law enforcement for their quick response.
